The AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition is a desktop processor with 16 cores, released in 2026 at an MSRP of $999. It is part of the Ryzen 9 lineup, using the Ryzen 9000 platform, and fits the AM5 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Zen 5" architecture. Thanks to AMD Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT), each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 32 threads for improved parallelism. The Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition has a base clock of 4.3 GHz and can boost up to 5.6 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. AMD manufactures the "Zen 5" silicon on a TSMC 4nm process node. The multiplier is unlocked, making overclocking straightforward. This processor supports DDR5 memory. ECC memory is supported, provided the motherboard enables it. With a TDP of 200W, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition runs hot and requires a capable cooling setup. Integrated graphics are provided by the Radeon Graphics solution, so a discrete GPU is not required for display output. The cache hierarchy consists of 1280KB of L1, 16MB of L2, and 192MB of L3 cache — an unusually large L3 that greatly benefits latency-sensitive workloads like gaming.
World's first desktop CPU with dual 3D V-Cache — both CCDs have 96MB of stacked V-Cache, totalling 192MB L3. Eliminates the 'bad CCD' scheduling issue present on previous dual-CCD X3D chips. Requires a 360mm AIO liquid cooler minimum due to 200W TDP. Released April 22, 2026.
