Xeon 696X

Intel · Xeon 6 · 2026 · LGA7529

Overview

The Intel Xeon 696X is a server processor with 64 cores, released in 2026. It is part of the Xeon 6 lineup, using the Xeon 6 platform, and fits the LGA7529 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Redwood Cove" architecture. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 128 threads for improved parallelism. The Xeon 696X has a base clock of 2.4 GHz and can boost up to 4.8 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Redwood Cove" silicon on a Intel 3 process node. This processor supports DDR5 memory across 12 channels, up to 6TB total, with ECC support standard for data integrity in server workloads. It supports both single-socket (1P) and dual-socket (2P) configurations, with 96 lanes of PCIe 5.0 available for storage, networking and accelerators. With a TDP of 350W, the Xeon 696X runs hot and requires a capable cooling setup. The cache hierarchy consists of 112KB/core of L1, 2MB/core of L2, and 336MB of L3 cache — a substantial cache pool well suited to memory-bound enterprise and virtualization workloads.

Xeon 6 P-core (Granite Rapids) SKU built on Redwood Cove cores for general-purpose and AI-accelerated data centre workloads.
