Xeon 6787E

Intel · Xeon 6 · 2025 · LGA7529

Overview

The Intel Xeon 6787E is a server processor with 288 cores, released in 2025 at an MSRP of $17,800. It is part of the Xeon 6 lineup, using the Xeon 6 platform, and fits the LGA7529 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Crestmont" architecture. The Xeon 6787E has a base clock of 1.6 GHz and can boost up to 2.4 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Crestmont" silicon on a Intel 3 process node. This processor supports DDR5 memory across 12 channels, up to 6TB total, with ECC support standard for data integrity in server workloads. It supports both single-socket (1P) and dual-socket (2P) configurations, with 96 lanes of PCIe 5.0 available for storage, networking and accelerators. With a TDP of 500W, the Xeon 6787E runs hot and requires a capable cooling setup. The cache hierarchy consists of 96KB/core of L1, no dedicated of L2, and 216MB of L3 cache — a substantial cache pool well suited to memory-bound enterprise and virtualization workloads.

Flagship 288-core Sierra Forest-AP — the highest core count of any x86 server CPU on the market at launch, built from dual 144-core chiplets. Aimed squarely at hyperscale cloud-native and containerized deployments, delivering Intel's claimed 2.5x rack density and 2.4x performance-per-watt versus Sapphire Rapids.
