Xeon 6780E

Intel · Xeon 6 · 2024 · LGA7529

Overview

The Intel Xeon 6780E is a server processor with 144 cores, released in 2024. It is part of the Xeon 6 lineup, using the Xeon 6 platform, and fits the LGA7529 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Crestmont" architecture. The Xeon 6780E has a base clock of 2.2 GHz and can boost up to 3 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Crestmont" silicon on a Intel 3 process node. This processor supports DDR5 memory across 12 channels, up to 6TB total, with ECC support standard for data integrity in server workloads. It supports both single-socket (1P) and dual-socket (2P) configurations, with 96 lanes of PCIe 5.0 available for storage, networking and accelerators. With a TDP of 330W, the Xeon 6780E runs hot and requires a capable cooling setup. The cache hierarchy consists of 96KB/core of L1, no dedicated of L2, and 108MB of L3 cache — a substantial cache pool well suited to memory-bound enterprise and virtualization workloads.

Xeon 6 E-core (Sierra Forest) SKU — no hyperthreading, thread count equals core count, optimised for cloud-native core density over per-core performance.
