Overview

The AMD Ryzen 7 2700 is a desktop processor with 8 cores, released in 2018 at an MSRP of $299. It is part of the Ryzen 7 lineup, using the Ryzen 2000 platform, and fits the AM4 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Zen+" architecture. Thanks to AMD Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT), each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 16 threads for improved parallelism. The Ryzen 7 2700 has a base clock of 3.2 GHz and can boost up to 4.1 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. AMD manufactures the "Zen+" silicon on a 12nm process node. The multiplier is unlocked, making overclocking straightforward. This processor supports DDR4 memory. ECC memory is supported, provided the motherboard enables it. With a TDP of 65W, the Ryzen 7 2700 is an efficient chip suitable for modest cooling solutions. This processor has no integrated graphics — a discrete GPU is required. The cache hierarchy consists of 96KB/core of L1, 4MB of L2, and 16MB of L3 cache.

65W non-X variant. Includes a Wraith Spire cooler — a notable difference from the 2700X which ships with the Wraith Prism.
