Core i7-9700

Intel · Core i7 · 2019 · LGA1151

Overview

The Intel Core i7-9700 is a desktop processor with 8 cores, released in 2019 at an MSRP of $323. It is part of the Core i7 lineup, using the 9th Gen platform, and fits the LGA1151 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Coffee Lake Refresh" architecture. The Core i7-9700 has a base clock of 3 GHz and can boost up to 4.7 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Coffee Lake Refresh" silicon on a 14nm process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR4 memory. With a TDP of 65W, the Core i7-9700 is an efficient chip suitable for modest cooling solutions. Integrated graphics are provided by the UHD 630 solution, so a discrete GPU is not required for display output. The cache hierarchy consists of 32KB/core of L1, 2MB of L2, and 12MB of L3 cache.

65W non-K locked variant. No Hyper-Threading — Intel controversially removed HT from the i7 tier in 9th Gen, giving 8 cores but only 8 threads.
