Overview

The AMD TR 1900X is a desktop processor with 8 cores, released in 2017 at an MSRP of $549. It is part of the Threadripper lineup, using the TR 1000 platform, and fits the TR4 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Zen" architecture. Thanks to AMD Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT), each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 16 threads for improved parallelism. The TR 1900X has a base clock of 3.8 GHz and can boost up to 4 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. AMD manufactures the "Zen" silicon on a 14nm process node. The multiplier is unlocked, making overclocking straightforward. This processor supports DDR4 memory. ECC memory is supported, provided the motherboard enables it. With a TDP of 180W, the TR 1900X runs hot and requires a capable cooling setup. This processor has no integrated graphics — a discrete GPU is required. The cache hierarchy consists of 96KB/core of L1, 4MB of L2, and 16MB of L3 cache.

Entry-level 8-core Threadripper 1st Gen. Uses only 2 of the 4 dies, giving it half the L3 cache of the 1950X.
