Core i7-12800HX

Intel · Core i7 · 2022 · FCBGA1964

Overview

The Intel Core i7-12800HX is a mobile (laptop) processor with 16 cores (8 Performance-cores and 8 Efficiency-cores), released in 2022. It is part of the Core i7 lineup, using the 12th Gen platform, and uses the FCBGA1964 package, which is soldered to the laptop's motherboard rather than socketed. Internally, it is built on the "Alder Lake-HX" architecture. Only the 8 P-cores support Hyper-Threading, while the 8 E-cores handle a single thread each, together yielding 24 threads: the P-cores tackle latency-sensitive and lightly-threaded work, while the E-cores take on background and highly parallel tasks. The Core i7-12800HX has a base clock of 2 GHz and can boost up to 4.8 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Alder Lake-HX" silicon on a Intel 7 process node. This processor supports DDR4/DDR5/LPDDR4X/LPDDR5 memory. With a base TDP of 55W and a minimum assured power 45W, maximum turbo power 157W, which the laptop maker sets to suit its cooling design, the Core i7-12800HX is a higher power envelope aimed at performance, gaming and workstation laptops. Integrated graphics are provided by the UHD Graphics solution, so a discrete GPU is not required for display output. The cache hierarchy includes 25MB of L3 cache.
