Core i7-12700F

Intel · Core i7 · 2021 · LGA1700

Overview

The Intel Core i7-12700F is a desktop processor with 12 cores (8 Performance-cores and 4 Efficiency-cores), released in 2021 at an MSRP of $298. It is part of the Core i7 lineup, using the 12th Gen platform, and fits the LGA1700 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Alder Lake" architecture. Only the 8 P-cores support Hyper-Threading, while the 4 E-cores handle a single thread each, together yielding 20 threads: the P-cores tackle latency-sensitive and lightly-threaded work, while the E-cores take on background and highly parallel tasks. The Core i7-12700F has a base clock of 2.1 GHz and can boost up to 4.9 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Alder Lake" silicon on a Intel 7 process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR4/DDR5 memory. With a TDP of 65W, the Core i7-12700F is an efficient chip suitable for modest cooling solutions. This processor has no integrated graphics — a discrete GPU is required. The cache hierarchy consists of 80KB/core of L1, 12MB of L2, and 25MB of L3 cache.

No integrated graphics. Otherwise identical to Core i7-12700.
