Core i5-14500

Intel · Core i5 · 2024 · LGA1700

Overview

The Intel Core i5-14500 is a desktop processor with 14 cores (6 Performance-cores and 8 Efficiency-cores), released in 2024 at an MSRP of $232. It is part of the Core i5 lineup, using the 14th Gen platform, and fits the LGA1700 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Raptor Lake Refresh" architecture. Only the 6 P-cores support Hyper-Threading, while the 8 E-cores handle a single thread each, together yielding 20 threads: the P-cores tackle latency-sensitive and lightly-threaded work, while the E-cores take on background and highly parallel tasks. The Core i5-14500 has a base clock of 2.6 GHz and can boost up to 5 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Raptor Lake Refresh" silicon on a Intel 7 process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR4/DDR5 memory. With a TDP of 65W, the Core i5-14500 is an efficient chip suitable for modest cooling solutions. Integrated graphics are provided by the UHD 770 solution, so a discrete GPU is not required for display output. The cache hierarchy consists of 80KB/core of L1, 11.5MB of L2, and 24MB of L3 cache.
