Xeon W-2175

Intel · Xeon W · 2017 · LGA2066

Overview

The Intel Xeon W-2175 is a desktop processor with 14 cores, released in 2017 at an MSRP of $1,947. It is part of the Xeon W lineup, using the Xeon W platform, and fits the LGA2066 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Skylake-W" architecture. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 28 threads for improved parallelism. The Xeon W-2175 has a base clock of 2.5 GHz and can boost up to 4.3 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Skylake-W" silicon on a 14nm process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR4 memory. With a TDP of 140W, the Xeon W-2175 sits in a typical power envelope for a modern desktop CPU. This processor has no integrated graphics — a discrete GPU is required. The cache hierarchy consists of no dedicated of L1, no dedicated of L2, and 19.25MB of L3 cache.

Original-stepping Skylake-W workstation part, sharing its clock and core profile with the later 'B'-suffix revision of the W-2170.
