Xeon Silver 4310

Intel · Xeon Silver · 2021 · LGA4189

Overview

The Intel Xeon Silver 4310 is a server processor with 12 cores, released in 2021 at an MSRP of $536. It is part of the Xeon Silver lineup, using the Xeon Scalable platform, and fits the LGA4189 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Ice Lake-SP" architecture. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 24 threads for improved parallelism. The Xeon Silver 4310 has a base clock of 2.1 GHz and can boost up to 3.3 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Ice Lake-SP" silicon on a 10nm process node. This processor supports DDR4 memory across 8 channels, up to 6TB total, with ECC support standard for data integrity in server workloads. It supports both single-socket (1P) and dual-socket (2P) configurations, with 64 lanes of PCIe 4.0 available for storage, networking and accelerators. With a TDP of 120W, the Xeon Silver 4310 sits in a typical power envelope for a modern desktop CPU. The cache hierarchy consists of no dedicated of L1, no dedicated of L2, and 18MB of L3 cache.

3rd Gen Xeon Scalable 'Ice Lake-SP' — Intel's first 10nm Xeon Scalable generation with 8-channel DDR4 and PCIe 4.0 support.
