Overview

The AMD Ryzen 7 2700U is a mobile (laptop) processor with 4 cores, released in 2017. It is part of the Ryzen 7 lineup, using the Ryzen 2000 platform, and uses the FP5 package, which is soldered to the laptop's motherboard rather than socketed. Internally, it is built on the "Raven Ridge" architecture. Thanks to AMD Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT), each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 8 threads for improved parallelism. The Ryzen 7 2700U has a base clock of 2.2 GHz and can boost up to 3.8 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. AMD manufactures the "Raven Ridge" silicon on a 14 nm process node. This processor supports DDR4 memory. With a base TDP of 15W and a configurable TDP of 12–25W, which the laptop maker sets to suit its cooling design, the Ryzen 7 2700U is an ultra-low-power design aimed at thin-and-light laptops. Integrated graphics are provided by the Radeon RX Vega 10 solution, so a discrete GPU is not required for display output. The cache hierarchy includes 4MB of L3 cache.
