The Intel Pentium Gold G6400 is a desktop processor with 2 cores, released in 2020 at an MSRP of $64. It is part of the Pentium G lineup, using the Pentium G platform, and fits the LGA1200 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Comet Lake" architecture. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 4 threads for improved parallelism. It operates at a fixed 4 GHz. Intel manufactures the "Comet Lake" silicon on a 14nm process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR4 memory. With a TDP of 58W, the Pentium Gold G6400 is an efficient chip suitable for modest cooling solutions. Integrated graphics are provided by the Intel UHD Graphics 610 solution, so a discrete GPU is not required for display output. The cache hierarchy consists of 32KB/core of L1, 256KB/core of L2, and 4MB of L3 cache.
