Opteron 6386 SE

AMD · Opteron · 2012 · Socket G34

Overview

The AMD Opteron 6386 SE is a server processor with 16 cores, released in 2012 at an MSRP of $1,392. It is part of the Opteron lineup, using the Opteron 6300 platform, and fits the Socket G34 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Piledriver" architecture. The Opteron 6386 SE has a base clock of 2.8 GHz and can boost up to 3.5 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. AMD manufactures the "Piledriver" silicon on a 32nm process node. This processor supports DDR3 memory across 4 channels, with ECC support standard for data integrity in server workloads. It supports both single-socket (1P) and dual-socket (2P) configurations. With a TDP of 140W, the Opteron 6386 SE sits in a typical power envelope for a modern desktop CPU. The cache hierarchy consists of no dedicated of L1, 2MB/module of L2, and 16MB of L3 cache.

16-core Piledriver Opteron (Abu Dhabi) at 2.8GHz (up to 3.5GHz with Turbo Core) on Socket G34, launched November 2012. Abu Dhabi is the Piledriver refresh of the G34 6000 series, and the final new architecture for AMD's G34 server platform. It targets high-performance two- and four-socket servers. The SE bin is a top-clocked, higher-TDP (140W) part for performance-focused deployments.
