Core i3-530

Intel · Core i3 · 2010 · LGA1156

Overview

The Intel Core i3-530 is a desktop processor with 2 cores, released in 2010 at an MSRP of $113. It is part of the Core i3 lineup, using the 1st Gen platform, and fits the LGA1156 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Westmere" architecture. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 4 threads for improved parallelism. It operates at a fixed 2.93 GHz. Intel manufactures the "Westmere" silicon on a 32nm process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR3 memory. With a TDP of 73W, the Core i3-530 sits in a typical power envelope for a modern desktop CPU. Integrated graphics are provided by the Intel HD Graphics solution, so a discrete GPU is not required for display output. The cache hierarchy consists of 32KB/core of L1, 256KB/core of L2, and 4MB of L3 cache.

Entry-level Clarkdale. No Turbo Boost, fixed 2.93 GHz.
