Core i3-2100

Intel · Core i3 · 2011 · LGA1155

Overview

The Intel Core i3-2100 is a desktop processor with 2 cores, released in 2011 at an MSRP of $117. It is part of the Core i3 lineup, using the 2nd Gen platform, and fits the LGA1155 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Sandy Bridge" architecture. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 4 threads for improved parallelism. It operates at a fixed 3.1 GHz. Intel manufactures the "Sandy Bridge" silicon on a 32nm process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR3 memory. With a TDP of 65W, the Core i3-2100 is an efficient chip suitable for modest cooling solutions. Integrated graphics are provided by the HD 2000 solution, so a discrete GPU is not required for display output. The cache hierarchy consists of 32KB/core of L1, 0.5MB of L2, and 3MB of L3 cache.

Entry-level Sandy Bridge — dual-core with HT, fixed 3.1 GHz, no Turbo.
