Core 2 E8200

Intel · Core 2 Duo · 2008 · LGA775

Overview

The Intel Core 2 E8200 is a desktop processor with 2 cores, released in 2008 at an MSRP of $163. It is part of the Core 2 Duo lineup, using the Core 2 platform, and fits the LGA775 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Penryn" architecture. It operates at a fixed 2.667 GHz. Intel manufactures the "Penryn" silicon on a 45nm process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR2/DDR3 memory. With a TDP of 65W, the Core 2 E8200 is an efficient chip suitable for modest cooling solutions. This processor has no integrated graphics — a discrete GPU is required. The cache hierarchy consists of 32KB/core of L1 and 6MB of L2 cache. There is no L3 cache on this processor.

Entry E8xxx Wolfdale with full 6MB L2. Same clock as E7300 but double the L2 cache, explaining the higher model number.
