Overview

The Intel Xeon X7550 is a server processor with 8 cores, released in 2010. It is part of the Xeon 7500 lineup, using the Xeon 7500 platform, and fits the LGA1567 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Beckton" architecture. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 16 threads for improved parallelism. The Xeon X7550 has a base clock of 2 GHz and can boost up to 2.4 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Beckton" silicon on a 45nm process node. This processor supports DDR3 memory across 4 channels, up to 1TB total, with ECC support standard for data integrity in server workloads. It supports both single-socket (1P) and dual-socket (2P) configurations, with 32 lanes of PCIe 2.0 available for storage, networking and accelerators. With a TDP of 130W, the Xeon X7550 sits in a typical power envelope for a modern desktop CPU. The cache hierarchy consists of no dedicated of L1, no dedicated of L2, and 18MB of L3 cache.

Xeon 7500 series 'Nehalem-EX' — Intel's first Nehalem-based 4-socket+ scale-up Xeon.
