Xeon w5-3525

Intel · Xeon W · 2024 · LGA4677

Overview

The Intel Xeon w5-3525 is a desktop processor with 16 cores, released in 2024 at an MSRP of $1,339. It is part of the Xeon W lineup, using the Xeon W platform, and fits the LGA4677 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Sapphire Rapids" architecture. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 32 threads for improved parallelism. The Xeon w5-3525 has a base clock of 3.2 GHz and can boost up to 4.8 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Sapphire Rapids" silicon on a Intel 7 process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR5 memory. With a TDP of 290W, the Xeon w5-3525 runs hot and requires a capable cooling setup. This processor has no integrated graphics — a discrete GPU is required. The cache hierarchy consists of no dedicated of L1, no dedicated of L2, and 45MB of L3 cache.

Sapphire Rapids Xeon W — Intel's current-generation workstation platform on LGA4677, the direct competitor to Threadripper PRO 7000/9000 series.
