Xeon Gold 6312U

Intel · Xeon Gold · 2021 · LGA4189

Overview

The Intel Xeon Gold 6312U is a server processor with 24 cores, released in 2021 at an MSRP of $1,450. It is part of the Xeon Gold lineup, using the Xeon Scalable platform, and fits the LGA4189 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Ice Lake-SP" architecture. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 48 threads for improved parallelism. The Xeon Gold 6312U has a base clock of 2.4 GHz and can boost up to 3.6 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Ice Lake-SP" silicon on a 10nm process node. This processor supports DDR4 memory across 8 channels, up to 6TB total, with ECC support standard for data integrity in server workloads. It supports both single-socket (1P) and dual-socket (2P) configurations, with 64 lanes of PCIe 4.0 available for storage, networking and accelerators. With a TDP of 185W, the Xeon Gold 6312U runs hot and requires a capable cooling setup. The cache hierarchy consists of no dedicated of L1, no dedicated of L2, and 36MB of L3 cache.

Single-socket-optimized Ice Lake-SP part, sharing its clock profile with the differently-numbered, Speed-Select-enabled 6336Y.
