Xeon Gold 5215

Intel · Xeon Gold · 2019 · LGA3647

Overview

The Intel Xeon Gold 5215 is a server processor with 10 cores, released in 2019 at an MSRP of $1,221. It is part of the Xeon Gold lineup, using the Xeon Scalable platform, and fits the LGA3647 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Cascade Lake" architecture. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 20 threads for improved parallelism. The Xeon Gold 5215 has a base clock of 2.5 GHz and can boost up to 3.4 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Cascade Lake" silicon on a 14nm process node. This processor supports DDR4 memory across 6 channels, up to 1TB total, with ECC support standard for data integrity in server workloads. It supports both single-socket (1P) and dual-socket (2P) configurations, with 48 lanes of PCIe 3.0 available for storage, networking and accelerators. With a TDP of 85W, the Xeon Gold 5215 sits in a typical power envelope for a modern desktop CPU. The cache hierarchy consists of no dedicated of L1, no dedicated of L2, and 13.75MB of L3 cache.

An entry Cascade Lake Gold part with standard memory capacity support, distinct from the memory-enhanced 5215L at the same clocks.
