Xeon E5-2630L v4

Intel · Xeon E5 · 2016 · LGA2011-3

Overview

The Intel Xeon E5-2630L v4 is a server processor with 10 cores, released in 2016. It is part of the Xeon E5 lineup, using the Xeon E5 platform, and fits the LGA2011-3 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Broadwell-EP" architecture. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 20 threads for improved parallelism. The Xeon E5-2630L v4 has a base clock of 1.8 GHz and can boost up to 2.9 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Broadwell-EP" silicon on a 14nm process node. This processor supports DDR4 memory across 4 channels, up to 1.5TB total, with ECC support standard for data integrity in server workloads. It supports both single-socket (1P) and dual-socket (2P) configurations, with 40 lanes of PCIe 3.0 available for storage, networking and accelerators. With a TDP of 55W, the Xeon E5-2630L v4 is an efficient chip suitable for modest cooling solutions. The cache hierarchy consists of no dedicated of L1, no dedicated of L2, and 25MB of L3 cache.

Xeon E5 v4 — final generation on the LGA2011-3 platform before the Skylake-SP architectural overhaul.
