The AMD Ryzen 7 5800XT is a desktop processor with 8 cores, released in 2024. It is part of the Ryzen 7 lineup, using the Ryzen 5000 platform, and fits the AM4 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Zen 3" architecture. Thanks to AMD Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT), each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 16 threads for improved parallelism. The Ryzen 7 5800XT has a base clock of 3.8 GHz and can boost up to 4.8 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. AMD manufactures the "Zen 3" silicon on a 7nm process node. The multiplier is unlocked, making overclocking straightforward. This processor supports DDR4 memory. ECC memory is supported, provided the motherboard enables it. With a TDP of 105W, the Ryzen 7 5800XT sits in a typical power envelope for a modern desktop CPU. This processor has no integrated graphics — a discrete GPU is required. The cache hierarchy consists of 64KB/core of L1, 4MB of L2, and 32MB of L3 cache.
