Opteron 2379 HE

AMD · Opteron · 2009 · Socket F

Overview

The AMD Opteron 2379 HE is a server processor with 4 cores, released in 2009 at an MSRP of $450. It is part of the Opteron lineup, using the Opteron 2300 platform, and fits the Socket F socket. Internally, it is built on the "K10" architecture. It operates at a fixed 2.4 GHz. AMD manufactures the "K10" silicon on a 45nm process node. This processor supports DDR2 memory across 2 channels, with ECC support standard for data integrity in server workloads. It supports both single-socket (1P) and dual-socket (2P) configurations. With a TDP of 79W, the Opteron 2379 HE sits in a typical power envelope for a modern desktop CPU. The cache hierarchy consists of 128KB/core of L1, 512KB/core of L2, and 6MB of L3 cache.

4-core K10 Opteron (Shanghai) at 2.4GHz on Socket F, launched April 2009. Shanghai is the 45nm shrink of Barcelona, tripling L3 cache to 6MB and raising clock speeds on the same Socket F platform. It supports up to two-socket systems. The HE (high-efficiency) bin trades clock headroom for a lower 79W TDP.
