Overview

The AMD EPYC 7D13 is a server processor with 36 cores, released in 2021. It is part of the EPYC 7003 lineup, using the EPYC 7003 platform, and fits the SP3 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Zen 3" architecture. Thanks to AMD Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT), each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 72 threads for improved parallelism. The EPYC 7D13 has a base clock of 0.7 GHz and can boost up to 3.2 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. AMD manufactures the "Zen 3" silicon on a TSMC 7nm process node. This processor supports DDR4 memory across 8 channels, up to 4TB total, with ECC support standard for data integrity in server workloads. It supports both single-socket (1P) and dual-socket (2P) configurations, with 128 lanes of PCIe 4.0 available for storage, networking and accelerators. With a TDP of 95W, the EPYC 7D13 sits in a typical power envelope for a modern desktop CPU. The cache hierarchy consists of 32KB/core of L1, 512KB/core of L2, and 192MB of L3 cache — a substantial cache pool well suited to memory-bound enterprise and virtualization workloads.

3rd Gen EPYC 'Milan' — Zen 3 SKU on the SP3 platform with 8-channel DDR4 and 128 PCIe 4.0 lanes.
