Overview

The Intel Core Ultra 9 288V is a mobile (laptop) processor with 8 cores (4 Performance-cores and 4 Efficiency-cores), released in 2024. It is part of the Core Ultra 9 lineup, using the Core Ultra Series 2 platform, and uses the FCBGA2833 package, which is soldered to the laptop's motherboard rather than socketed. Internally, it is built on the "Lunar Lake" architecture. Only the 4 P-cores support Hyper-Threading, while the 4 E-cores handle a single thread each, together yielding 8 threads: the P-cores tackle latency-sensitive and lightly-threaded work, while the E-cores take on background and highly parallel tasks. The Core Ultra 9 288V has a base clock of 3.3 GHz and can boost up to 5.1 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Lunar Lake" silicon on a TSMC N3B process node. This processor supports LPDDR5X memory. With a base TDP of 30W and a minimum assured power 17W, maximum turbo power 37W, which the laptop maker sets to suit its cooling design, the Core Ultra 9 288V is a higher power envelope aimed at performance, gaming and workstation laptops. Integrated graphics are provided by the Arc 140V solution, so a discrete GPU is not required for display output. The cache hierarchy includes 12MB of L3 cache.
