Core i5-6200U

Intel · Core i5 · 2015 · FCBGA1356

Overview

The Intel Core i5-6200U is a mobile (laptop) processor with 2 cores, released in 2015. It is part of the Core i5 lineup, using the 6th Gen platform, and uses the FCBGA1356 package, which is soldered to the laptop's motherboard rather than socketed. Internally, it is built on the "Skylake-U" architecture. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 4 threads for improved parallelism. The Core i5-6200U has a base clock of 2.3 GHz and can boost up to 2.8 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Skylake-U" silicon on a 14 nm process node. This processor supports DDR3L/LPDDR3/DDR4 memory. With a base TDP of 15W the Core i5-6200U is an ultra-low-power design aimed at thin-and-light laptops. Integrated graphics are provided by the HD Graphics 520 solution, so a discrete GPU is not required for display output. The cache hierarchy includes 3MB of L3 cache.

Configurable TDP down to 7.5 W, up to 25 W.
