Intel · Core i5 · 2023 · LGA1700
The Intel Core i5-13400 is a desktop processor with 10 cores (6 Performance-cores and 4 Efficiency-cores), released in 2023 at an MSRP of $182. It is part of the Core i5 lineup, using the 13th Gen platform, and fits the LGA1700 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Raptor Lake" architecture. Only the 6 P-cores support Hyper-Threading, while the 4 E-cores handle a single thread each, together yielding 16 threads: the P-cores tackle latency-sensitive and lightly-threaded work, while the E-cores take on background and highly parallel tasks. The Core i5-13400 has a base clock of 2.5 GHz and can boost up to 4.6 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Raptor Lake" silicon on a Intel 7 process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR4/DDR5 memory. With a TDP of 65W, the Core i5-13400 is an efficient chip suitable for modest cooling solutions. Integrated graphics are provided by the UHD 730 solution, so a discrete GPU is not required for display output. The cache hierarchy consists of 80KB/core of L1, 9.5MB of L2, and 20MB of L3 cache.
A hybrid-core i5 that notably lacks an unlocked multiplier, pairing 6 P-cores with 4 E-cores at a 65W TDP aimed at budget-conscious builders who don't need overclocking headroom. Offered strong multi-threaded value against similarly-priced AMD alternatives at launch.
