Core i3-10100

Intel · Core i3 · 2020 · LGA1200

Overview

The Intel Core i3-10100 is a desktop processor with 4 cores, released in 2020 at an MSRP of $122. It is part of the Core i3 lineup, using the 10th Gen platform, and fits the LGA1200 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Comet Lake" architecture. Thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading, each core can handle two instruction streams simultaneously, yielding a total of 8 threads for improved parallelism. The Core i3-10100 has a base clock of 3.6 GHz and can boost up to 4.3 GHz depending on workload and thermal headroom. Intel manufactures the "Comet Lake" silicon on a 14nm process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR4 memory. With a TDP of 65W, the Core i3-10100 is an efficient chip suitable for modest cooling solutions. Integrated graphics are provided by the UHD 630 solution, so a discrete GPU is not required for display output. The cache hierarchy consists of 32KB/core of L1, 1MB of L2, and 6MB of L3 cache.

An entry-level Comet Lake chip that punched above its price bracket by including Hyper-Threading across all four cores — a feature Intel had historically reserved for higher tiers on many prior-generation i3 chips. Popular in budget office and light gaming builds.
