Core 2 Q9300

Intel · Core 2 Quad · 2008 · LGA775

Overview

The Intel Core 2 Q9300 is a desktop processor with 4 cores, released in 2008 at an MSRP of $266. It is part of the Core 2 Quad lineup, using the Core 2 platform, and fits the LGA775 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Yorkfield" architecture. It operates at a fixed 2.5 GHz. Intel manufactures the "Yorkfield" silicon on a 45nm process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR2/DDR3 memory. With a TDP of 95W, the Core 2 Q9300 sits in a typical power envelope for a modern desktop CPU. This processor has no integrated graphics — a discrete GPU is required. The cache hierarchy consists of 32KB/core of L1 and 3MB of L2 cache. There is no L3 cache on this processor.

Q9 tier Yorkfield with 3MB L2 per die — more cache than Q8 but less than Q9550/Q9650. Same 2.5 GHz as Q8300 but better cache.
