Core 2 E6850

Intel · Core 2 Duo · 2007 · LGA775

Overview

The Intel Core 2 E6850 is a desktop processor with 2 cores, released in 2007 at an MSRP of $266. It is part of the Core 2 Duo lineup, using the Core 2 platform, and fits the LGA775 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Conroe" architecture. It operates at a fixed 3 GHz. Intel manufactures the "Conroe" silicon on a 65nm process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR2 memory. With a TDP of 75W, the Core 2 E6850 sits in a typical power envelope for a modern desktop CPU. This processor has no integrated graphics — a discrete GPU is required. The cache hierarchy consists of 32KB/core of L1 and 4MB of L2 cache. There is no L3 cache on this processor.

Top-end Conroe Duo at 3.0 GHz, just below the Extreme Edition X6800. 75W TDP slightly higher than the rest of the Conroe range.
