Core 2 E6300

Intel · Core 2 Duo · 2006 · LGA775

Overview

The Intel Core 2 E6300 is a desktop processor with 2 cores, released in 2006 at an MSRP of $183. It is part of the Core 2 Duo lineup, using the Core 2 platform, and fits the LGA775 socket. Internally, it is built on the "Conroe" architecture. It operates at a fixed 1.867 GHz. Intel manufactures the "Conroe" silicon on a 65nm process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR2 memory. With a TDP of 65W, the Core 2 E6300 is an efficient chip suitable for modest cooling solutions. This processor has no integrated graphics — a discrete GPU is required. The cache hierarchy consists of 32KB/core of L1 and 2MB of L2 cache. There is no L3 cache on this processor.

Entry-level Conroe with 2MB L2. Incredibly popular overclocker — easily reached 2.8+ GHz on a P965 board. Launch model alongside the E6600.
