Overview

The AMD Athlon II X2 260 is a desktop processor with 2 cores, released in 2009 at an MSRP of $70. It is part of the Athlon II lineup, using the Athlon II X2 platform, and fits the AM3 socket. Internally, it is built on the "K10" architecture. It operates at a fixed 3.2 GHz. AMD manufactures the "K10" silicon on a 45nm process node. Its multiplier is locked, so any overclocking has to come from raising the base clock rather than the multiplier. This processor supports DDR3 memory. With a TDP of 65W, the Athlon II X2 260 is an efficient chip suitable for modest cooling solutions. This processor has no integrated graphics — a discrete GPU is required. The cache hierarchy consists of 64KB/core of L1 and 2MB of L2 cache. There is no L3 cache on this processor.

Athlon II dual-core step above the 250. 65W TDP — one of the most efficient Athlon II models.
